Into Her World

Mother Nature and Landscape painting have always been Valerie's constant theme in her painting since she was in her Diploma studies. Her artwork focuses a lot on colours and storytelling as she was inspired by the Nanyang style (an art movement and tradition initially practiced by migrant Chinese painters in Singapore) and the traditional shadow puppets of Malaysia. Using mother nature as a way to reflect the current situation of her world, they could be about her emotions or events happening around her. The trees and elements of the landscape represent symbols and meaning, a reflection of Valerie's own world.
