LIMIT

Valerie continued her experiment into her final project where she studied how raw materials such as paper, wires, ropes, and stones that were available in her surroundings, be able to create a relationship between different materials, giving each material a symbolic meaning that reflects the thoughts, feelings, and situation of that moment.

Inspired by her struggles with cultural differences between her identity as a Malaysian and a Chinese residing in Taiwan, she used raw materials to create these feelings that spectators could understand through their personal experiences or struggles.

This series of works is where she explored the "Limits" between two different energy. The materials that were used are simple and pure like stone, strings, nails, paper, and so on, hoping that these would give direct messages or feelings to the audience. Different objects were combined to create a relationship between them, usually not able to correspond with each other, creating tension that is reaching its very limit.
